Lauren Frick
Lauren Frick is Friends of Music’s part-time Administrator, adeptly handling a variety of responsibilities ranging from concert management to patron relations, fundraising, and mentorship of the student intern. Often behind the scenes – yet integral to all the workings of the organization – Lauren is available to help with questions and needs as they arise. Lauren holds both a Master of Music degree and a Graduate Performance Diploma in Opera from the Longy School of Music at Bard College, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Voice Performance from Shepherd University. She is a dynamic mezzo-soprano, known for her powerful voice, commanding stage presence, and sensitive character portrayals. Most recently, she returned to Shepherd University as the soprano soloist in the world premiere of Sprinkle Coal Dust on My Grave by Walker Williams.
Lauren’s operatic repertoire includes roles such as Mrs. De Rocher in Dead Man Walking, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance, the Old Lady in Candide, Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana, among others. Career highlights include sharing the stage with opera luminaries Christine Goerke and Alan Held during the inaugural season of the Wagner Institute at the Miami Music Festival.
Critics consistently praise Lauren’s voice. The South Florida Classical Review described her as possessing a “warmly colored mezzo,” while the Boston Classical Review noted her “resonant and ripe” sound with “seamless transitions across all registers.”
In Shepherdstown and with Friends of Music, Lauren combines her passions for community engagement and the arts. She participates in educational and artistic roles in a place that holds deep personal significance.
